The Stocking Rate Versus Time in Range Management: A Review of Recent Theoretical Developments
Posted: 23 Jul 2001
Abstract
A salient question in range management relates to the relative significance of the stocking rate versus the length of time during which livestock animals graze a specific rangeland. In recent times, Batabyal and his colleagues have provided a theoretical answer to this question. Given the salience of this question for the practice of range management, this note has two goals. First, we provide a non-technical discussion of the methodology of Batabyal and his colleagues. Second, we point out and comment on the importance of two range management queries that are suggested by the analysis under study.
