Abstract

Title IX was an important first step towards inclusion of women at all levels of sports. In many ways, it has been a remarkable success. But in others, it has not, for both men and women. Title IX regulations have remained frozen in time, failing to account for important developments in theorizing about equality and in sports themselves. Reconsideration of the structure of college and university athletics programs in light of these developments is overdue.
