Abstract
Evidence of the health benefits of laughter is overwhelming and recent research highlights the connection between student sentiment and their subsequent receptiveness to learning and engagement. By leveraging the power of humor in the classroom, educators can decrease stress, increase student-teacher communication, and teach their students the essentials of economics in an impactful and memorable way. ECONShots, our collection of snapshots of standup comedians with quotes relevant to economics, provides an opportunity for students to connect with the theories, terms, and concepts that are common to both economics and everyday life. All ECONShots are indexed for ease of use. Embed codes provide nearly effortless integration into lecture slides, learning management systems, and social media tools, providing a distinctive avenue for learning economics that will make a lasting impression.
