Abstract
Korean Abstract: 학업성취도는 교육의 유일한 목표는 아니지만 교육의 성과를 평가하는 데 있어서 간과할 수 없는 중요한 지표이다. 본 연구에서는 초중등교육의 학업성취도와 관련이 있는 학생 특성, 가정 특성, 학교 특성을 종합적으로 분석함으로써, 정책적 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 특히 학업성취도를 산출지표로 하는 교육생산함수를 추정함에 있어서 초⋅중⋅고 학교급과 학년, 학교 유형(일반계고/특성화고)별로 분석하여 교육투입 변인의 영향이 다르게 나타날 가능성을 고려하였다. 또한 남녀공학과 단성학교가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 일반적으로 교육수요자의 선호와 무관하게 배정되는 학교 유형의 성별 통합/분리 교육의 개선방안을 모색하고자 하였다. English Abstract: Academic achievement is not of course the only goal of education, but its significance as an indicator to evaluate education production can never be overlooked. Through comprehensive analysis of academic achievement-related factors in primary and secondary education, such as characteristics of student, family and school, this study attempts to draw policy implications. In particular, in its estimation of the education production function in which the output indicator is academic achievement, this study considers the possibility that education input variables will bring different effects by conducting the analysis according to the school level of elementary, middle and high schools, school year of student and the type of school (general or specialized high school). Also, by analyzing the effects of co-ed and single-sex schools on academic achievement, this study attempts to explore ways to improve the gender integration/separation education of schools which is in general assigned to education consumers regardless of their preferences.
