Abstract
The paper is considering a possible astronomical orientation of the Roman town of Saepinum. This town was founded having its decumanus coincident to a part of a tratturo, that is, a track used for moving herds. Probably, the location of the Roman town was chosen where the tratturo was aligned along the moonrise azimuth on a major lunar standstill.
