Abstract
I show that in a universe subject to either free will, physical indeterminacy or both the mathematical structure of the class of theories for that universe is non-functional. I relate this concept to the uncertainty of the future. I show that the class of universes for which free will or physical indeterminacy or both exist is identical to the class of universes for which the progress of time is irreversible.
