Abstract

The aim of the report is to present the recent developments in migration situation in Bulgaria. Migration inflows and outflows are studies as well as the factors that impact the recent dynamic migration situation in Bulgaria. Refugee crisis implications are analysed and the policy response. Migration in Bulgaria is studied in the context of regional and European migration landscape. In a broad labour market and demographic context Bulgaria is loosing from the free movement of people principle. The policies aiming at providing citizenship to Bulgarian minorities abroad failed to deliver since they became an instrument of transit migration to most developed EU countries. Restricting immigration is strongly supported by the public opinion and integration of refugees is a big challenge.

The paper consists of a reach set of most recent data on all different forms of migration.
