Abstract

English Abstract: In the Netherlands, the Committee Teacher Training Computer Science presented its final report in July 1997. Half a year later, a computer science (re)training program for teachers in secondary education is about to be launched. The Minister of Education has ordered the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) to develop a plan and a training course. March 1998 the measure was officially announced, and schools could sign up to the program. Over 250 schools signed up, but there is only funding for 60 teachers. Is that what was meant by ‘Investing in a leading edge’ - the title of the Minister’s policy plan?
