Green Banking Practices of Selected Private Sector Banks in Sri Lanka

Abstract
It has been generally observed that there is an empirical gap with regard to green banking practices of selected private sector banks (Private Bank-I, Private Bank-II, Private Bank-III, and Bank-IV) in Sri Lanka. In general, the selected private sector banks have many green banking practices and also promoting green banking culture among the employees. However, this area of research is not explored very well in Sri Lanka. Therefore, in order to fulfil this empirical gap, this study was conducted. The objective of this study is to identify and explore the green banking practices of selected private banks in Sri Lanka. In order to achieve this objective, data were collected from the secondary sources, mainly from the last two years annual reports of the selected banks and content analysis was applied. The findings of this study revealed that private sector banks are practicing several green banking practices (67) in Sri Lanka.
