Is Technology Minimizing Gender Gap: Some Insights from the Lives of Women Entrepreneurs in Technology from India

Abstract

Technology, innovation and entrepreneurship are converging together today and creating abundance of opportunities for budding entrepreneurs. Women in emerging economies, especially the “millennial age group” contrary to stereotype image, show the common trait of taking risks, building the techno-startup, creating competitive advantage and sustaining their business in the turbulent environment. Besides the techno-environment, the socio-economic dynamics in India plays a pivotal role in the outrageous growth of women entrepreneurs in Technology. The present study is designed to understand the challenges faced by the women entrepreneurs in technology given that culture, caste, religion and gender are so significant in this Region. It also inquires if the technology is playing any role in minimizing gender differences, women face day in and day out during business.
