Abstract

Supply chain strategies with traditional strategies do worse compared to those having a strategy focused on either lean, agile or a combination of lean/agile strategies. Though lean and agile strategies are often pitted as opposing paradigms, they share a common objective; meeting customer demands at the least total cost. As time has now become a vital factor in competitiveness due to customers becoming increasingly reluctant to accept long lead-times for products and services, the significance of speed and responsiveness in today’s industry settings have blurred the boundaries of related concepts, such as agility and lean thinking and evolved concepts of legality. Leagile is a better supply chain strategy than lean or agile alone. Leagile supply chain strategies have led to a revolution in the way the firms manage their supplies as these concepts, have made business competitive and more profitable.
