Abstract
In the beginning of the 1990s Cuba started a policy of negotiating Bilateral Investment Treaties (‘BITs’). The first Cuban BIT to be signed was with Italy on 7 May 1993. In total, Cuba signed 60 BITs in the period 1993 to 2002 which made Cuba the Latin American country with highest number of BITs. This article analyzes Cuban BIT policy and trends.
