Abstract

In this paper, I analyze wage trends in telecommunications during the pre-divestiture and post-divestiture period. Data from 1977 to 1993 CPS extracts are used to compare wage levels for union and nonunion workers, for different occupations, and for different regions of the country. The impact of potential competition is estimated by analyzing wage trends for workers in areas of the country with different degrees of regulation by state regulatory agencies.
