Abstract
The paper considers why apex Courts are attacked by all populist governments. It argues that we must distinguish between populism as movement, as a leader, as a government and as a regime. It concludes with an argument that only an alliance between civil society initiatives and courts can stop the movement to establish populist-authoritarian regimes.
