Abstract
This article is the latest in a series of publications by the author on the rules governing the merits in international commercial arbitration. It deals with the sources and the limits of the powers of arbitrators to identify and apply the rules governing the merits and explores the relations between party autonomy, national law and the duties of arbitrators.
