Abstract

This essay examines the rise of "ethics" in critical legal studies since the mid-1990s. A description of the contested meanings of ethics in relation to justice, including especially the ethical theories of Emmanuel Levinas, is included, as is an analysis of the significance of a radical conception of ethical responsibility for law, politics, and critical theory.
