Abstract

English Abstract: The volume is organized in three parts. In the first one the author examines, from the economic-social, political-institutional and symbolic-legitimating levels (that is to say, production, organization and legitimation), the structural bases on which the social order or the "world" in which Mexican caudillismo arose and developed. The second part focuses on the conceptual and symbolic frameworks that legitimized the Revolution (1910-17) and what it entailed for the emergence of the structural populist project. The third part analyzes the modifications, undergone in the three levels mentioned above, which implied the advent of structural populist project. Finally, the conclusion makes a balance of the achievements of structural populism, which allowed overcoming caudillismo and consequently advancing in the construction and strengthening of the nation-state. Reference is also made in this part to the persistence of the caciquismo, while reflecting on the future economic, social and political perspectives for Mexico after the deep crisis of the structural populist system showed, above all, as a result of the presidential elections in 1988.
