Abstract

Steganography deals with concealing the existence of messages in image files. In this paper, we present an efficient method of hiding the information in image files and discuss results obtained from evaluating the proposed steganographic method. The secret text is embedded in RGB component of the cover image by using a combination of linear congruential generator (LCG) and least significant bit (LSB) techniques making the hiding of information more secure. Random pixels positions are picked using LCG and embedding is done by LSB technique in 3R-3G-2B pattern.

Keywords: cover image, secret message, LSB, LCG, stego-image, RGB
