Abstract
This paper deepens into the initial conditions that explain about the expansion of the nation-state particularly referring to the Colombia case, indicating how some political and economic facts present during the 19th century led to a first globalization attempt. This paper also reflex the interest to deepen on the conditions that accelerated the political advance of the nation-state and the reasons that supported the rapid spread around the world of democracy showing some of the removed obstacles that led finally to modern governing system. We retrieve some of the initial conditions that draw our attention about the 19th century British experience, comparing these with evolving emerging countries, suggesting that as its government arms extended to its territorial dominions overseas and other trading countries. This extension of nation states governed by market principles lead finally towards the appearance of a "world-system" in the shape we know it today.
