Abstract
This paper presents a hybrid converter topology to supply both ac and dc loads fed from a solar panel. The converter proposed in this project is the hybrid converter which is derived from the boost converter configuration such that the controllable switch is replaced by an inverter. Since the converter is derived from boost converter topology it is also called as BDHC (Boost Derived Hybrid Converter). The control strategy used for BDHC is unipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation. These converters have better performance in continuous conduction and have undesirable results for discontinuous mode and standalone AC operation. It also required less number of switches for switching operation. Suitable sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique is used to control the switches. This system works well for the residential applications for ac and dc loads. The behaviour of the converter is to be obtained using MATLAB -Simulink.
