Abstract

Biometric based person authentication is more reliable than traditional authentication system. Face recognition has a wide range of possible application such in surveillance, human computer interfaces, marketing and advertising goods for selected customers according to age and gender. Here, pre-processing is done by using median filter and histogram equalization to reduce noise and to enhance image. Because of the high classification rate and reduced computational cost, one of the best methods for face recognition is based on Zernike Moment feature extraction. Using feed forward artificial neura l network features were trained. Artificial Neural Network was able to identify a person when an image is used for testing. Thus suggesting that in real time applications person authentication can be done by Neural Network.
