Abstract

The growth of population in Egypt had made a great shortage in the quality of house buildings, which led to a search for new ways to build economically sustainable houses using recycled shipping containers. This idea is still foreign to designers and building practitioners in Egypt. Buildings methods should be developed to become more economical, sustainable. There are plenty stocks of shipping containers in Egypt's ports which can provide many solutions by recycling it as an approach to solve economic house buildings problems. This research aims to present the uses of recycled shipping containers as a temporary structure and through: Monitoring its the importance, reviewing various approaches of dealing with shipping containers in architectural design and emphasizing the importance of improving it, Studying the most suitable ways to make shipping containers sustainable, economic and more flexible in architectural design. This research proposes that using recycled shipping containers in-house buildings is more economical, sustainable and increase the quality of life for buildings users in Egypt. Conclusions will be drawn from the findings of this research on how to deal with recycled shipping containers as a way to increase the quality of life in Egypt.
