Abstract

This essay examines Israel’s segregated bus system in relation to transportation networks in the Palestinian Occupied Territories and other segregationist regimes, such as North America during the Jim Crow era. The ongoing segregation of public transportation systems throughout Israel/Palestine is linked to the increasing obsolescence of the two-state solution. While every apartheid system is different, a comparative account of racialist segregation can shed light on human rights violations in Israel/Palestine.
