Abstract

In this paper, a variable structure sliding mode control of direct drive permanent magnet synchronous generator for wind energy conversion system is investigated and implemented in the FPGA. The proposed sliding mode controller is chosen to guarantee the stability during the transition and steady modes, and comes to eliminate the inconvenient of Proportional-Integral controller. The stability of the system is ensured by using the Lyapunov function. The control scheme is composed by turbine and the generator side control strategies in order to provide the extracted power from Wind. The Simulation results built-up in Matlab-Simulink and implemented on the zedboard zynq 7000 FPGA to show the feasibility of the proposed control.
