Abstract
This paper, a follow-up to the author's earlier work on spy fiction's bestseller list presence, concerns the position of the military techno-thriller in the literary market during the 1985-2000 presence on the basis of bestseller data. It argues that the genre's popularity peaked in 1989 and plummeted by the late 1990s, and considers possible explanations for the development.
