Abstract
This article discusses the compliance risk posed to corporations by the practice of protection unionism in supply chains in Mexico. The article explains the concepts of protection unionism and "labor protection contracts," shows how the practice distorts genuine tripartism in the workplace, outlines CSR indicators of the presence of a labor protection contract in a workplace, and analyze the practice under US law, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and corporate anti-bribery compliance principles.
