Abstract

As the knowledge is power in any kind of business set-up, and when it comes to Startup India initiatives, the people (entrepreneurs as well as professionals) engaged in new enterprise creation (Startup) activities, at various stages of their new business management process, would also need a range of high-quality business information and knowledge resources. However, none of these Startup enterprises can afford to set-up their own library and information service (LIS) facilities in the initial stage. This situation, in contemporary India, provides tremendous opportunities for various types of existing leading libraries, information and knowledge centres, with a new dimension and perspective to serve the information needs of Startup India community. Particularly, leading Corporate Libraries and B-School Libraries as well as Public Libraries, etc. have great resources and potentials to support in this emerging business development arena, where more and more Startups are being set-up with every passing day. In this operational context, through this paper, the author, based on his over two decades of experiences in offering LIS for various user groups in the business and corporate world, makes specific strategic recommendations along with the best practices for designing, developing and offering customized, ‘Library, Information and Knowledge Extension Services for Startup India (LIKESINDIA)’.
