Abstract
This article explores the Work College model and its relevance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The work includes a history of HBCUs and their efforts to remain viable, and a history of the Work College model and its federal requirements. This work concludes with an appeal for HBCUs to consider departing from the traditional methods of higher education governance to embrace the Work College system.
