Abstract

The paper proposes a novel compact Ultra Wide Band (UWB) circular mono pole antenna with single band notch characteristics. The antenna is fed with a 50 micro strip feed line. In the proposed antenna, a U slot and via hole are made to achieve band notch characteristics. The proposed antenna filters the existing Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and the antenna has 30, 23, 1.6 mm3 size. The antenna gives larger bandwidth from 3.1-15 GHz and it gives good gain for the entire frequency band except at notched band. The antenna is designed using RT/DUROID substrate with permittivity 2.2; it is simulated using CST microwave studio suite 2016, and antenna performance parameters like return loss, VSWR, radiation efficiency and gain are calculated and reported.

Keywords: Single Band Notching, Ultra Wide Band (UWB), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
