Abstract
On the cusp of Israel's 70th anniversary, Kimmy Caplan’s book Amram Blau is a timely and welcome contribution to the discussion on the role of Neturei Karta pre- and post-1948, appraised through the prism of its inspirational leader, Amran Blau. This book is a historical biography of Blau, a complex person who led his life in an uncompromising way, who led by example, whose mind and mouth were the same, who was true to himself, and who dedicated his life to fight the Zionist movement. His constant failures did not deter him. He remained in staunch opposition to Israel until his last day, refusing to recognize the Jewish state and paying a high personal prize for living by his zealot principles.
