Abstract

English Abstract: Nowadays, the geo-environmental mapping of the marine areas is still being on the stage of standardization, requiring further developments. The methodology of the mapping of the marine areas lacks commonly accepted standards. Therefore, there are many issues in GIS techniques concerning thematic mapping of the marine areas on which there is no commonly accepted and standard approaches. The paper provides a brief overview of the existing methods which enable the most effective techniques of the marine mapping. These include thematic clusters such as lithological, coastal areas (landscape and environmental), geomorphological, geochemical and geoecological ones. Current paper contributes towards development of the methodology of the ecological mapping of the marine areas.
