Abstract

The present paper discusses the increasing dissemination of Artificial intelligence (AI) in the various functions of HRM and enduring debate on anticipated decline of usability of human resources in the organizations. HR practioners are experiencing the constant fear of being replaced by machines/robots/smart business machines in the presence of AI in the organizations. The study is an attempt to acknowledge the valuable contribution of AI in improvising the organizational decision-making process and facilitate the understanding for better acceptability and inclusion of AI in the HRM department. Though the amalgamation of AI and HRM is attracting many researchers still many facets of the field are yet to be explored. The current study suggests a collaborative approach by highlighting the complementary role of HRM in effective utilization of AI and adds to the existing literature. The dependency of AI and HR on each other suggests that the organizations should focus on implementing the AI as a supporting tool for HR and not overrule the role of HR. The business systems and smart business machines should be so that they cannot deliver results without HR contributions.
