Abstract

The Plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) are becoming future mode of transportation because of its pollution free nature. The charging of PEVs increases the system loading in a considerable amount and effects on the distribution system performance. The load increase on the causes the drop in voltage and increases the power losses. In this paper, PEV charging stations are equipped with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to mitigate the PEVs charging impact. The impact analysis is done by considering three different PEV penetration levels with and without PV units. The analysis is done on a practical Indian distribution system and results are compared with and without solar PV units.
