Abstract

Software Defined Network (SDN) is an emerging technology which is going to change the traditional network operation scenario. SDN empowers quick maintenance and innovation of network from a centralized point. It promises to provide agility, reliability and programmability for the network. With distributed control plane approach, SDN enables more flexibility to the network. The current SDN approach faces a major challenge in the distributive placement and selection of controllers. This paper condenses the methodologies of different approaches of controller placement and selection problem with respect to other promising networks like the Internet of Things. This paper also presents a new algorithm which discusses for the selection of a controller, based on the controller's load and propagation delay between network elements.
