Abstract

The present study deals with the treatment of textile dyeing effluent (TDE), using aluminum as a sacrificial electrode. An electrocoagulation reactor is used for the treatment of TDE at different pH range (2-10) and current density range (17-71 A/m2) respectively. It is observed that at the optimum condition (pH 6 and current density 53 A/m2) maximum COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) removal 82.5% was achieved. Further, settling characteristics are also observed at different pH. The study indicated that electrocoagulation is one of promising technology to TDE.
