Abstract

The Green Productivity Demonstration Program which is sponsored by the Asian Productivity Organization Japan has been successfully carried out by the National Productivity Council India. In view of low productivity and environmental pollution in edible soy oil section, urgent steps were required to ensure its sustainability and growth in an era of economic liberalization. In built in the green productivity process is the practice of continuous improvement which would enable the industry to be continuously competitive. The object of GP is to minimize waste and to convert wastes into asset, hence improving productivity and environmental performance. The objectives of the Green Productivity Demonstration Program project are to demonstrate that Green Productivity practice leads to enhancement of productivity while minimizing environmental impacts. We are explaining the green productivity demonstration program in and its impact on edible oil industry in this paper.
