Abstract

The subject of this paper is with theoretical description of interfacial wave of core annular flow. An integral model describing the dynamics of long wave length perturbation to a laminar flow for wide range of Reynolds number is derived. The model consists of a system of two evolution equations that describe the developpement of the interface and the flow rate. In order to test the accuracy of the model, marginal stability results are compared with the earlier results of Hickox (1971) and Preziosi (1989), and very good agreement is found. Effects of interfacial tension, viscosity ration, densitiy ratio and thickness ratio on the stability of core-annular flow are analyzed in detail.
