Facilitating and Adapting Learning Management System: A Novel Experimental Study

Abstract
Information Communication Technologies (ICT) is playing a vital role in all sectors and so as in education too. Innovative teaching pedagogy using technology has become essential for Instructors, Learners, Administrators and Researchers of education field. This paper focuses on use of major current trend in ICT such as Learning Management System (LMS). This paper summarized the purpose of LMS - Moodle, challenges of setting up, adapting and maintaining Moodle as Admin. With a specific focus on adaption issues when the students are of rural background with little or no knowledge of technology in teaching and learning process. Education environment is experiencing a rapid growth and availability of many commercial and open source LMS software however Moodle - open source LMS is chosen at Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (GRIET), Hyderabad, India. It is a self-financed institute located in rural area but closely connected to rapidly growing Hyderabad city with predominantly rural background students. Its adaption and implementation at GRIET is considered as an experimental study. For this study two years data at GRIET is examined and analysis shows that there is perceptible improvement in student participation, and faculty accepting LMS-Moodle as ICT practice.
