Abstract

WDM optical networks which established communication between nodes and assign a wavelength to each path are very high speed and high bandwidth networks. Routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) select an appropriate route and channel for connections so that it maximize the number of established connections and minimizes the blocking probability using limited resources. This paper proposes an improved routing and wavelength assignment strategy and simulation on MESH torus and NSFNET networks. Results show the blocking probability by considering with and without wavelength conversion capability of the node.
