Abstract
Over time circumstances change and with it established institutions and social structures decay and eventually become irrelevant. For better or worse, a revolutionary leader emerges, a socio-economic phase transition disrupts the affairs of men and women. Those unable to adapt, perish and the survivors, dazed and disoriented, grit their teeth and begin their lives anew. The millennials around the world are caught in the whirlpool of a phase transition. The unfathomable force they face is the accelerated knowledge pouring out from STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and the AI (artificial intelligence) it powers. Emotion laced human intelligence, the crowning glory of Homo sapiens, in the conventional job market is being forced out. A large segment of Homo sapiens are reacting instinctively and emotionally with increased feelings of populism, nationalism, and anti-immigration. In the current transition period there will be chaos, commotion, bloodshed, turmoil, and the rise and fall of leaders. Eventually survivors will pave the way to a new era. The United States, bruised and battered, will likely lead the way. China, if it persists in its repressive policies toward its citizens and its premature bid to become a competing global power will likely suffer the most. This article discusses the unfolding epic battle between Trump and Xi. It will provide amazing lessons for the millennials and a glimpse of the future that lies ahead of them post Trump’s presidency.
