Abstract
The construction industry has the highest number of casualties per accident and workers at construction sites are vulnerable to accidents. Current research on unsafe behavior mainly focuses on behavior-based safety and safety culture, and training for the elimination of unsafe behavior is carried out in a unified manner and is not treated differently according to individual characteristics. This study uses individual behavior as pointcut and establishes the connection between the two areas by designing a questionnaire based on the theory of planned behavior, and it is postulated that there exist connections among construction workers’ personal particulars and unsafe behavioral intention. SPSS software was used to perform exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and test the correlations through the data collected from 533 construction workers in China. The results showed that:
1) the questionnaire structure received proper reliability and validity;
2) the construction workers’ personal particulars have certain relationships with their unsafe behavioral intention.
In conclusion, our research explored the relationship between personal particulars and unsafe behavioral intention, which contribute to a better understanding of how construction workers understand their behaviors. The findings can help to improve the safety performance of construction workers through targeted differentiated training and promote the sustainable development of enterprise human resource management.
