Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a new macroeconomic indicator, the Income Per Capita Desgrowth Rate (ξ-Rate). Calculation of the ξ-Rate is based on the income per capita desgrowth discount rate (Ð-Rate). Calculation of the Ð-Rate, in turn, is based on simultaneously evaluating sixteen different controlled and non-controlled events or variables. The main objective of the ξ-Rate is to monitor per capita income performance, along with all possible leakages from each controlled and non-controlled events or variables. Finally, we apply the ξ-Rate to Guatemala to analyze its economic performance between 2015 and 2019. The analysis indicates that per capita income stagnated during this period.
