Abstract
Serbo-Croatian Abstract: Povećane mogućnosti opisa jezika znaju dovesti do pomaka u uočavanju nijansi funkcija jezičnih jedinica.
English Abstract: The paper deals with the structure of the nominal phrase (NP). The members of the NP are described according to their function: if they immediately take part in the syntactic function of the NP, they belong to the functional class of substantive; if they take part in the syntactic function of the NP only intermediary, they belong to the functional class of attribute or to the functional class of determiner. The function of the attribute and the determiner is not clausal but phrasal. The members of the NP also differ in their referential capabilities: only a substantive can take on the reference of the whole NP. After describing the difference between the attribute and the determiner, the author comes to the conclusion that the determiner should not be seen as a part of speech but as a functional class.
