Abstract

The complexity of modern electrical power system is increasing gradually and becoming a challenging problem of the power system stability, and dominantly to the aspects of the transient stability in the power system. The transient stability plays a crucial role in making sure the fulfilled stable operating condition of power system during the events like large faults and disturbances taking place in the system. So to improve the performance and the transient stability of the system FACTS devices are employed in the transmission network. The unique features and qualities of FACTS controllers allows to enhance the power system stability and also these controllers allows controlling the power flow in the network. The simulation results here illustrate the effect of STATCOM on the various parameters of the system and how they are improved in the presence of the same.

Keywords: FACTS, STATCOM, Transient Stability, Synchronous Reference Frame, Rotor Angle
