Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of "Spanglish" as a phenomenon of language intercultural communication. The situation with the Spanish language in the USA becomes especially difficult, where, according to the latest statistics for 2008, out of the 305 million inhabitants of the country, more than 45 million are Hispanic, that is almost every seventh inhabitant. We consider phenomenon "Spanglish" as the type of jargon - a mixture of English and Spanish, spoken by some Hispanic residents of the United States. From a socio-historical point of view, "Spanglish" emerged within the Spanish-speaking diaspora, which resisted the process of complete assimilation in a society dominated by another ethnic group. From a linguistic point of view, "Spanglish" in the United States has its differences depending on the state and city, which corresponds to the peculiarities of the language of that region of Latin America, where the immigrants come from. We made the conclusion that it is time for the United States to pay serious attention to the presence of the Spanish language in the country.
