Tempering Power

Abstract

This Forward introduces a special issue of the Buffalo Law Review on “Tempering Power” in contemporary legal institutions. Led by John Braithwaite’s analysis of what tempering power would mean for governance of the financial sector, the issue includes articles by Mary Anne Bobinski on health law, Susan Bibler Coutin on immigration law, Heinz Klug on transformative constitutionalism, Martin Krygier on the concept of tempering power, Kwai Hang Ng on Chinese law, Nimer Sultany on liberal legalism, David Westbrook and Mark Maguire on rejuvenating agencies, and Peer Zumbansen on resuscitating socio-legal theory.
