Abstract

Martin van Bruinessen (born 10 July 1946) is a Dutch anthropologist, author and professor of the Comparative Study of Contemporary Muslim Societies at Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies , Utrecht University, Netherlands, who has published a number of publications on various societies and cultures especially the Kurdish people. He has carried out several researches about Kurds, which the most famous of them among the Kurds is his first fieldwork in the mid-1970s under "Agha, Shaikh and State: The Social and Political Structures of Kurdistan".
