Abstract

Library is increasingly becoming a museum of printed books and academic journals in view of the fact that digitization has become a mantra. Whether library has lost its relevance for tech-savvy 21st century learners within technology-driven academia is being debated upon. There seems to be an endless battle of wits between print-favouring digital immigrants or outsiders who are accused of being technophobia and online-preferring digital natives who are equally accused of being techno mania. However, library as a metaphor always evokes ideas associated with reading and education. The article argues that education is a near impossibility without library with or without digitization. Digitization is only an additional optional flavour customised according to the requirements of different stakeholders of higher education for whole person development.
