Abstract

The study was focused on the use of the internet, the use of social media platforms and the use of games as tools for developing digital literacy in the 21st century ESL classroom. As pertaining to the use of the internet, some language learning sites, as well as search engines, were mentioned as tools used in fostering digital literacy in the ESL classroom as well as the uses of these platforms. The reasons why games should be taught and the benefits of teaching games in the classroom were also discussed. Advantages, disadvantages and problems associated with each topic were also talked about. It was concluded that since digital literacy entails such diverse use of modern technology to enhance learning, the language classroom should employ the use of these digital form of learning to enhance teaching and learning.
