Abstract

Julia Reichert's 50 year career as a documentarian crests at a moment of triumph with American Factory, an Oscar-short-listed film. As a feminist, socialist filmmaker, she has consistently focused on the lives of ordinary working people in the U.S. She has also started and supported major institutions in documentary film. Yet her career has been neglected in the scholarly community.

Keywords: documentary, feminism, working class, labor, film
